JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE: JPM) shares increased by 4% on Tuesday after reporting stronger-than-expected results. The bank reported third quarter earnings of USD 2.68 per share on revenues of USD 30.1 Billion. Analysts expected earnings of USD 2.45 per share on revenue of USD 28.5 Billion. Both earnings and revenue increased by 8% year-over-year, largely due to growth in home loans, auto, and credit cards.
Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) reported its quarterly financial results on Tuesday morning, but missed analysts’ estimates. Despite missing expectations, Wells Fargo shares were up 4% midday Tuesday. For the quarter, Wells Fargo reported earnings of USD 1.07 per share on revenue of USD 22.01 Billion. Analysts expected earnings of USD 1.15 per share on revenue of USD 21.19 Billion.
The Charles Schwab Corporation (NYSE: SCHW) shares surged by 5.5% on Tuesday after surpassing estimates. For the quarter, Charles Schwab reported earnings of USD 0.70 per share on revenue of USD 2.7 Billion. Analysts projected earnings of USD 0.66 per share on revenue of USD 2.6 Billion. Charles Schwab reported that its total client assets reached a record of USD 3.77 Trillion at the end of the quarter.
Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) shares edged higher by 2% after topping analysts predictions for the quarter. At the end of the quarter, Johnson & Johnson reported earnings of USD 2.12 per share on revenue of USD 20.73 Billion. Analysts expected earnings of USD 2.01 per share on revenue of USD 20.07 Billion. As a result of a stronger quarter, J&J raised its full-year guidance and expects earnings between USD 8.62 to USD 8.67 per share on revenue in the range of USD 81.8 Billion to USD 82.3 Billion. Prior to the release of the Company’s financials, analysts expected full-year earnings guidance of USD 8.53 to USD 8.63 per share on revenue of USD 82.4 Billion to USD 83.2 Billion.
Aphria Inc. (NYSE: APHA) reported its first quarter financial results during pre-market hours on Tuesday. The cannabis operator reported better-than-expected earnings, however, fell short of analysts’ revenue expectations. Despite the revenue miss, Aphria share soared by 24.5%. For the quarter, Aphira reported earnings of CAD 0.07 per share on revenue of CAD 126.1 Million. Analysts expected an earnings loss CAD 0.02 per share on revenue CAD 131.00 Million.
UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE: UNH) reported its third quarter financial results before the market open on Tuesday. The healthcare provider reported better-than-expected results, primarily led by its double-digit growth in its Optum segment. UnitedHealth shares rose by 7.6% during midday Tuesday. For the third quarter, UnitedHealth reported earnings of USD 3.88 per share on revenue of USD 60.4 Billion. Analysts anticipated earnings of USD 3.75 per share on revenue of USD 59.8 Billion.
