The Trump administration just announced a relaxation on the restrictions faced by U.S. companies selling to Huawei. It is being reported that the ban would now only be applied to products related to national security.
President Trump announced at the G20 meeting that trade restrictions with Huawei would be relaxed. Commerce secretary Wilbur Ross, said on Tuesday that licenses would be issued to companies that sell products to the Chinese telecom company under certain conditions. Huawei would still not be removed from it so-called entity list and companies would still need to apply for licenses.
However there has been no announcement or information about how long the relaxation ban would last, leaving open the possibility that licenses could dry up once more if there is no progress in the trade talks.
