Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN)
will add over 2,500 new permanent jobs in Britain this year, increasing its UK workforce to about 28,000, said the U.S. retailer on wednesday.

It will include jobs in the head office, research and development, web services and operations roles. “We’re committed to the UK, we’re continuing to invest in the UK,” Doug Gurr, Amazons UK Country Manager, told reporters.

Along with its nationwide deliveries of products and goods, Amazon also includes video streaming and the digital home assistant named Alexa. Collectively Amazon has invested over 9.3 billion pounds ($12.5 billion U.S.D.) in its UK operations since 2010, said Gurr, and is already currently in partnership with No. 4 UK player Morrisons Uk and bought U.S. grocer  Whole Foods last year.

Amazon has also been associated with a big move in the UK grocery market with Sainsburys (SBRY.L) acceded 7.3 billion pound takeover of Walmarts (WMT) “Asda” that would make the combined group larger than the current grocery market leading brand Tesco (TSCO).

They have confirmed the first 400 jobs at a new fulfilment center in Rugby, Central England. Gurr was unconcerned by the impending egress from European Union. “We’ll Wait and see what happens and we’ll adapt as necessary,” Gurr stated.

Amazon has also slowly been in the works of providing its same-day delivery service AmazonFresh since june 2016, however its overall share of the grocery market remains small.
