Amazon.com, Inc.(NASDAQ: AMZN) announced in a press release that it will be expanding its Amazon Prime member benefits to all Whole Foods Market across the nation. Prime members can now enjoy 10 percent off hundreds of sale items and exclusive savings on select popular products in any Whole Foods store effective Wednesday, June 27. The deals change weekly.
Amazon acquired Whole Foods last year for $13.7 billion and launched the discount program to increase its influence on the newly acquired company.
Whole Foods currently as 466 stores across the U.S. The program was initially only accessible in a few states in May, and has been steadily expanding its savings benefits to more states before making the decision to go nationwide.
Customers can access their Prime member savings through the Whole Foods Market app by signing into their Amazon account and scanning the app’s Prime Code at checkout or give their mobile phone number linked to the Prime account during checkout.
Amazon claims that members have already saved millions of dollars so far, although it did not state exactly how much was saved.“Customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive – in fact, Prime members have adopted this benefit at one of the fastest rates we’ve seen,” said Cem Sibay, Vice President, Amazon Prime. “Since starting this rollout in mid-May, Prime members have already saved millions of dollars on everything from seasonal favorites to popular products.”
